Rainbow

 Red was when she was in love,

Sneaking glances at other couples

when he wasn't there by her side.

Like a smile that crossed her lips

Whenever she thought of the 

Kisses he used to steal from her.


Orange was when she witnessed 

People healing with time

The way she saw them enjoy life

Again with so much gratitude

Like a reassuring touch to show

That the body they live in

Finally feels like their own.


Yellow was when you discovered

Beautiful things about the people you love.

Like how her favourite colour was yellow

All along but you thought it was blue

And now everytime you see things in yellow

It feels like home.


Green was when he stayed with her

Even after everyone left

They lay in each other's arms

And breathed promises with their lips.

Like watching fields of flowers swaying

Listening to the stories bought by the wind

While they slowly built their realm of peace.


Blue was when your soul feels empty

even when it was overflowing,

An unrest that travels throughout 

your body threatening to take over.

Like the days that burdened your heart

But locked the miseries from getting out

So you shrink into yourself.


Indigo was when a friend listened.

On a silent night, I'll think of you

And the comforting nest you offered.

Like how your name will ignite 

Euphoria inside my soul even 

when the space you filled

has been taken over by another.


And on Violet I would land 

at the end of the day,

With all feelings of comfort and pain

silently resting beside me on my bed.

Like the realisation that I could never

Let you know how much you mean to me

Even when you paint rainbows in me.

Monologue of an anxious heart

  Love is a strange feeling. I have tried to write about it so many times but it never feels right. So here goes another try. 1. This isn't something you wished for but now that it's here,it feels like everything. And sometimes it doesn't. And that frightens you. Like a huge 'I told you so' from life.  2. Nights,Cigarettes and the piano.

The frequent trips to the terrace at night was something to look forward to. The view wasn't marvelous but once you have had  a glance at the night sky, you wouldn't be disappointed. The two apartments opposite our building had few tales to tell in its silence. And for those who were eager to listen, they heard a murmur of wonder, habits and uncertainty.    The man with the cigarette reminded me of two people. My grandfather would always hid his pack of cigarettes from me, although I never really know the reason why. Whenever I find him smoking or discover his secret stash, he would let out a stretched 'ayyo' and has a look of despair and regret on his face. I would scold him childishly. But  I was always confused. Was it the face I made? The one I learned from my mother when she finds dad smoking. The look had grown on me.
